Second Chakra

The second chakra moving up the spine is called Swadhisthana Chakra. Swadhisthana in Sanskrit translates as one's own place. It is associated with water and all things flowing. Located in the sacral area (about near the pubic bone at the front of the body), it relates to our emotions and desires, particularly our sexuality. Sexual problems may be the result of a deficient or over-active second chakra. An under-active Swadhisthana Chakra can lead to distrust, suspicion, lack of emotion or pity. An over-active Swadhsithana Chakra can lead to a hyperactive sex drive and addiction. A balanced Swadshisthana Chakra contributes to a feeling of belonging, expressiveness, and creativity. As the base of our creativity and desires, the second chakra works with the throat chakra (5th chakra) to express our inner world. Stimulate your second chakra with hip opening asanas, dance, creative endeavors, and swimming.
