Third Chakra

The third chakra up is called Manipura Chakra and resides in the solar plexus area. More specifically, it corresponds to the Islets of Langerhans, a group of cells in the pancreas. This chakra governs digestion and the adrenals. It is associated with personal power, spiritual and mental growth, and a general idea of "moving forward." An over-active Manipura Chakra can lead to digestive problems, fear, and bullying behavior. An under-active Manipura Chakra can lead to sluggish digestion, weak abdominals, and extreme shyness or introversion. Having a balanced third chakra enables us to set goals and achieve them. It's element is fire, so Breath of Fire is great for stimulating it. Manipura Chakra will also be stimulated by abdominal work, so if your's is under-active, it's time to add Navasana and crunches to your fitness routine.
